A Beacon of women empowerment: Er. Sukhchain Kaur assumes charge as SDO at PSPCL’s Model Town

Under the distribution South zone of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, the Model Town Sub-Division at Patiala stands out as a model administrative unit distinguished by its strong representation of women officers and employees. With unwavering dedication, professional integrity, and resolute commitment, these women professionals are diligently serving thousands of electricity consumers. The Sub-Division is not only recognized for its operational efficiency but has also emerged as a proud symbol of women empowerment within the PSPCL framework. Today, Er. Sukhchain Kaur formally assumed charge as Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) at the Model Town Sub-Division. On the occasion, Senior Executive Engineer Er. Abhiraj Singh Randhawa, along with the entire staff, extended a warm welcome and conveyed their best wishes for her successful tenure.

The Model Town Sub-Division is currently staffed by a dedicated team of 22 employees catering to nearly 35,000 electricity consumers. The workforce comprises 16 technical, 2 clerical, and 4 non-technical employees. Of the total staff strength, 13 are men (11 technical and 2 clerical), while 9 are women (5 technical and 4 non-technical). Notably, the women workforce includes one SDO, one Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), one Junior Engineer (JE), and two linemen – reflecting a progressive and inclusive professional environment. Upon assuming office, Er. Sukhchain Kaur affirmed that her foremost priority would be to ensure seamless, transparent, and consumer-centric power services without delay. She assured that all legitimate concerns of electricity consumers would be addressed promptly on a priority basis, ensuring that no consumer faces unnecessary inconvenience. She further emphasized that through cohesive teamwork, disciplined functioning, and forward-looking technical guidance, the Model Town Division would continue its journey toward greater excellence and higher benchmarks of service delivery.
